Coastwatch Tay visits HM Coastguard Aberdeen Operations Centre

Coastwatch Tay volunteers visited the Maritime Coastguard Agency - Aberdeen Operations Centre. Our volunteers were given a very informative talk about the activities of the MCA by Watch Officer Hector Sutherland.

Coastwatch officers, Lynn Bell, Frank Burke and Stewart Burns are shown how at a touch of a button search and rescue resources can be activated to an incident and how a search plan is calculated by inputting data such as tide state, wind speed and direction, water temperature, etc.

Coastwatch Tay Station Manager, Gareth Norman thanks HM Coastguard Watch Officer Hector Sutherland for taking the time out of his busy watch to show our volunteers around.
